Former Indian batsman Suresh Raina will represent his home state of Uttar Pradesh in the highly anticipated Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is expected to take place next January. Raina announced his retirement from international cricket in August this year, but the world cup winner will continue to play domestic cricket for his home state of Uttar Pradesh and in the Indian Premier League.
Raina shared the news with his fans on Twitter through pictures of his training on the networks. Although Raina hasn’t played cricket in a year, he has been training hard in the gym and keeping himself fit for the upcoming season in India.

Raina also did not play in the 2020 Indian Premier League in the UAE as he had to return home for “personal reasons”. In his absence, the Chennai Super KIngs, led by MS Dhoni, fought and ended up making it to the playoffs for their first time. CSK took 7th place.
The BCCI had to postpone the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to January 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament will be played in six states from January 10 through January 31, 2021.
