The new Mahindra Thar has a waiting period of almost nine months, which indicates its low production capacity and its increasing popularity. Mahindra has confirmed that January production will increase, which will shorten the waiting time. The automaker also plans to offer the Thar in more color options.
It has now been spied on in a new white color on the upper LX fairing with darkened wheels. Earlier this week it was discovered clad in silver, but in the AX (O) variant. Interestingly, the previous generation Thar was available in a Diamond White shade. Starting next month the prices for the new Thar will be increased and with that we could also see the introduction of new colors.
The new Thar has a waiting period of at least six months in most Tier I and Tier II cities. The AX variant with basic specification seems to be finally discontinued as Mahindra has updated the brochure. The bookings for this variant were discontinued within one month after the start of the Thar. It was available with side-facing rear seats, which Mahindra will no longer offer as the 4-star crash test rating only applies to variants with front-facing seats.

The Thar gets a 2.0-liter mStallion gasoline engine and a 2.2-liter mHawk turbo-diesel engine. The diesel makes 130 hp / 300 Nm, while the gasoline has 150 hp / 320 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic torque converter.
The price for the Thar is between 11.9 and 13.75 rupees (from the Delhi showroom). The price increase will apply to all Mahindra models from next month. The manufacturer has yet to announce the extent of the migration.
