Reports now confirm that Isco Alarcon would like to leave Real Madrid in the coming winter transfer window due to the lack of playing time.
Isco’s decline at Real Madrid over the past three seasons has been shocking. The former Malaga midfielder was once an undisputed starter at the club and even played a pivotal role in Los Blancos’ historic threat peat in the UEFA Champions League. However, the Spanish midfielder has shown signs of decline since the 2018/19 season and has been declining rapidly since then.
The 28-year-old midfielder has just played eight league games this season, adding up to a total of 308 minutes. This is a clear indicator that Isco hasn’t been used much this season. However, Isco has also failed to take advantage of most of the opportunities Zinedine Zidane has offered him so far this season. It’s like with Rodrygo, the boy doesn’t start often, but always uses every opportunity that Isco doesn’t use.
At the age of 28, Isco should be playing, or at least starting, every game as the Spaniard enters the prime of his career. However, his physical condition and work speed are extremely poor, which is one of the many reasons why Zidane did not give the player enough chances.
Zinedine Zidane herself has also publicly admitted that Isco has no playing time this season:
Isco will be an important player, it’s true that he doesn’t play a lot and I’m not giving him the opportunity to show the player that he is
Meanwhile, reports from SPORT confirm that Isco plans to get out of Real Madrid in January. The Spanish midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League and Everton is one of the few clubs to have been linked with the player.
Real have not yet received any offers for their midfielder. However, the player is keen to leave the club in search of playing time. The Premier League and Serie A appear to be the two goals Isco could be heading towards as Everton and Juventus have shown great interest.
