The Mumbai Criminal Police Department arrested a former Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) CEO from Pune district on Thursday as part of the TRP fraud, an official said.
Partho Dasgupta, the defendant, is the fifteenth person arrested in the case of alleged forgery of TV Rating Points (TRP) by some TV stations.
He was arrested by the Crime Intelligence Unit (CIU) from the jurisdiction of the Rajgad Police Station in Pune district and is being produced in a court in Mumbai on Friday, the official said.
The CIU had previously arrested the former Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BARC Ramil Ramgarhia in the case.
Mumbai Police began investigating after the BARC rating agency filed a complaint about the manipulation of TRP through some channels.
TRP, as measured by recording viewer data in sample households, is critical as it helps television channels attract advertisers.
It has been alleged that some of these households have been bribed to use certain channels to increase their TRP.
