Amid agitation by farmers against the three agrarian reform laws that lasted into the third week and there was no end to the impasse in talks with the center, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tuesday the government would continue to insure farmers and theirs To address concerns he also accused the opposition parties of misleading them.

Speaking of a gathering after the groundbreaking of a desalination plant, a hybrid renewable energy park and a fully automated milk processing and packaging facility in Gujarats Kutch, PM Modi said the farmers gathered near Delhi were being misled as part of a conspiracy.

“Farmers are told that if new farm reforms are carried out, their land will be conquered by others. I would like to ask you, did the milk owner take your cattle because you were selling him milk? The government is always committed to the wellbeing of farmers and we will continue to insure farmers and address their concerns, “said PM Modi.

Speaking to the opposition parties, PM Modi said they were in favor of these agricultural sector reforms themselves when they were in power. “The opposition is misleading the farmers and shooting them off the shoulders. They wanted these reforms too, but they couldn’t when they were in power. But now that we’ve made it, they’re misleading the farmers. I want to reiterate that my government is ready 24 hours a day to resolve all your doubts, ”he said.

Farmers, mostly from Punjab and Haryana, have been camping on the borders of Delhi for over 20 days, calling for the repeal of recently enacted farm laws.

The government agreed to continue talks but not to withdraw the laws. “It cannot be overridden and a 0-1 binary will not work. The government has given an option to change. It is also ready to change the wordings of the three laws in response to concerns from farmers, ”said a leading government source, informed of developments in Krishi Bhawan.

Earlier in the day, Modi laid the foundation for a number of development projects, including a 30,000-megawatt hybrid renewable energy park, a desalination plant and a modern Sarhad Dairy milk processing plant.

This desalination plant with a capacity of 10 crore liters per day (100 MLD) will strengthen water security in Gujarat by complimenting the Narmada Grid, Sauni Network and treated wastewater infrastructure. The Hybrid Renewable Energy Park, near the village of Vighakot in the district, will be the largest renewable energy park in the country. It will result in the generation of 30 GW of renewable energy.
