The Afghanistan Cricket Board announced on Sunday (December 20) that Australia would host them for a single test match that was postponed in November 2021.
The test was originally scheduled to take place in November 2020. However, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Cricket Australia canceled the test and decided to run it at a later date. Many such tours were either canceled or postponed after the corona eruption earlier this year.
According to ACB, they have reached an agreement with Cricket Australia to play the Test next November, but the venue has yet to be decided.
“Australia are a strong testing team and we look forward to playing them in the 2021 friendly. Unfortunately, the testing has been delayed due to COVID-19, but we’re glad it will finally take place,” said the newly appointed chief executive of ACB , Rahmatullah Quraishi told Cricbuzz on Sunday.
Afghanistan received test status in 2017 and has played four test matches so far, two of which were won against Ireland and Bangladesh.
