Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Monday that pictures of “people giving anti-national speeches in Delhi” were seen during the farmers’ protest. The Road Transport and Highways Minister told news agency ANI that some elements tried to mislead farmers by taking advantage of their opposition, the government is ready to start talks on farmers’ fears about the three agricultural laws that came into force in September .
Nitin Gadkari said, “There is Gadchiroli district near Nagpur which is Naxalite affected. In that, a person was nominated and did not even get bail from the court. He is in jail. He has no direct and indirect relationship with the farmers, but his photograph was seen in protest. I can not get it.”
When asked about the comments on the involvement of urban Naxalites and Maoist elements in protest against the farmers, Gadkari said that such remarks were not made for all farmers. “People who have given anti-national speeches in Delhi, who have nothing to do with the country and farmers, who have nothing to do directly or indirectly with the demands of farmers, have seen pictures of them,” he said.
Gadkari said, “Please explain how they came to this. There are some elements who are trying to mislead farmers by taking advantage of the movement. I think this is wrong.”
For the past several days, farmers have been protesting against the new agricultural laws of the government. The farmers believe that these three laws are not in the interest of the farmers. Due to the protest, the farmers have come out on the streets. Farmers sleeping in tractors and trolleys are also eating food on the road itself.
