Washington [US]Dec. 24 (ANI): U.S.-based pharmaceutical company Moderna announced on Wednesday that its COVID-19 vaccine would protect against the new mutant coronavirus reported in the UK.
“Moderna expects the immunity induced by its COVID-19 vaccine to protect against coronavirus variants that have been reported in the United Kingdom,” said the statement released by Moderna.
It has also been confirmed to have additional tests of its vaccine in the coming weeks to check its effectiveness against the new strain of the virus.
“We plan to run tests to confirm the vaccine’s activity against each strain,” added the press release.
Based on data so far, Moderna expects the vaccine-induced immunity to Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine to protect against the variants of the SARS-CoV-2 virus recently discovered in the UK.
Moderna’s forward-looking statements are based on current expectations and do not guarantee the success of the vaccine against the new mutated coronavirus. (ANI)
