Mamata Banerjee breaks into dance, then an excavation at BJP

Mamata Banerjee broke into a dance at the opening of a music festival.

West Bengal’s chief minister, Mamata Banerjee, opened a music festival and even broke into a dance, on a break from the heavy campaign for the four-month state elections.

Mamata Banerjee took time out from her intense sparring with the BJP and honored several folk artists, including musicians, singers and dancers.

When the Chief Minister was congratulating the celebrated Santhal dancer Basanti Hembram, she was seen asking her to show her some steps. Someone shouted for music and then she not only patted her feet, but was even seen shaking a leg.

But the elections are never far from their sanity and their comments later in the event were against the BJP.

In a short speech calling for unity, she said that Bengal should never transform into Gujarat, responding to the BJP’s repeated claims to be applying the “Gujarat Development Model” in Bengal.

The national anthem, national song and slogan “Jai Hind” were given to the world of Bengal, Ms. Banerjee said.

“Netaji gave us Jai Hind, who is world famous, Bankim Chandra, the national song Vande Mataram, and Rabindranath Tagore gave us our national anthem. All of these came from the soil of Bengal One day the whole world will greet Bengal. From the Nobel Prize to everything else everything is from Bengal. We will not allow Bengal to transform into Gujarat, “warned the Prime Minister.
