The Congress high command has approved an alliance with the Left parties for the 2021 assembly elections in West Bengal. With this, the elections of Bengal will now be triangular. Apart from the ruling Trinamool and the BJP, there will now be a fight between the Congress-Left Alliance.
Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said that the Congress has once again decided to join the Left parties to fight against the Trinamool rule. Congress state in-charge Jitin Prasad said that our alliance will fight against BJP and Trinamool with full force and bring back the pride of Bengal which has been destroyed by these two parties.
How many seats will Congress contest, not decided yet
In 2016, the Congress contested the assembly elections with the Left parties. The alliance then won 44 seats. Congress became the second largest party in the state. However, since then half of Congress MLAs have joined Trinamool. This time it has not been decided how many seats Congress will contest in the state. However, sources told the news agency that the Congress would get a share in parity.
