As expected, there are going to be 10 more teams in the IPL. The BCCI has decided to field two more teams in addition to the existing eight. However, it has been decided to play with 8 teams in 2021 and to enter the ring with 10 teams from 2022 IPL.
So far only 9 teams have played the highest number in the IPL. 9 seasons were lost in the 2011,2012,2013 seasons. In fact, despite the fact that the 2021 IPL season is expected to be played with 10 teams, the decision to bring it into force from 2022 was taken with the intention that the selection of teams would be hampered in other aspects, including player bidding. That means there will be 94 matches in the IPL from 2022.
The BCCI has approved the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics from 2028.
With this, it is now a matter of suspense as to which two new teams will play in 2022. In the past, teams like Pune and Kochi came on screen and now we have to see who gets that opportunity.
