AEO forced death due to harassment of lending institutions
Siddipet Town, Nangunnur, News Today: Another person has succumbed to online debts. A government official has been charged with manslaughter for defaulting on a borrower’s personal reputation by a lender for failing to repay a loan within a specified period. According to the police, Maunika (24), daughter of Kirni Bhupani of Rajagopalpet, Nangunur zone, Siddipet district, has been working as an AEO in the account cluster for two years. His family has been residing in Siddipet for some years. The father took a loan of Rs 3 lakh two months ago from the silent ‘SnapitLone’ app for family needs after he lost out on business ventures. Unable to repay it within the stipulated time. With this, the administrators of the app sent WhatsApp messages to all the contact numbers on her phone declaring her as a debt evader. On the 14th of this month, Maunika committed suicide by drinking insecticide at home. Family members rushed her to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday morning. Siddipet police said the case was registered as per the complaint of her brother Bharat.
