The BCCI has shortlisted the names of Ajit Agarkar, Nayan Mongia, Maninder Singh, SS Das and Chetan Sharma for the selection committee of Team India.

new Delhi. The process of selecting the new Chief Selector of Team India has now reached the final stage. The BCCI has selected a total of 5 former cricketers, including former cricketer Ajit Agarkar, for the selection committee. Apart from Agarkar, BCCI has also shortlisted the names of Chetan Sharma, Maninder Singh, Nayan Mongia and SS Das.

Why is Ajit Agarkar decided to become the chief selector?

A total of 11 players, including Ajit Agarkar, had applied for the selection panel. In which Ajit Agarkar, Abhay Kuruvilla and Nayan Mongia have applied from the West Zone. Chetan Sharma, Maninder Singh, Vijay Dahiya, Ajay Ratra and Nikhil Chopra have filed nominations from North Zone. Shiv Sundar Das, Devashish Mohanty and Ranadev Bose applied from the East Zone. Now only 5 of these 11 cricketers have been selected by the CAC for the selection committee. These include Agarkar, Chetan Sharma, Maninder Singh, Nayan Mongia and SS Das.

Apart from this, Agarkar has also played 191 ODIs for India and in such a situation, he is the biggest contender to become the chief selector. The Cricket Advisory Committee headed by Madan Lal will interview 5 short-listed candidates, out of which 3 will be selected. Let the current BCCI selection committee members Jatin Paranjpe, Devang Gandhi and Sharandeep Singh’s tenure have been completed and they can be replaced by Ajit Agarkar from West Zone, Shivsunder Das from East Zone. The new selection committee will start its work from the home series against England.
